Scored a dismal 550(47 Q, 20 V)

Scored a dismal 550(48 Q, 20 V)

I took GMAT 2 weeks before and was schocked to see 550 score in my test. I could not believe it. I m completely lost as what the hell happened on the earth. Verbal part completely ruined me.Never in the test i use to score so low in verbal. In the test i found the verbal q to be tough and thot that i might be doing pretty well but when the final score popped up......I was crashed.....What the f**?

Guys, i am completely numb now. I know that i cant apply to top B'school with this score so i will retake it again. I am aiming for 700+.Do you think this is a practical target, given the fact that i am working full time. I am also worried that if my GMAT scores are averaged, then no matter i got 700+, the average is going to be in mid 600 which is no good for B'school application

Please advise how should i improve my verbal? Agreed that i struggle in Verbal, but 20 is smthng i am not worth of......In practice tests ( gmatprep) i used to get 26-30 in verbal.

post your practice scores

Hi,

I had similar experience(I scored 630) and want to share some advice.

1/ Post all your practice test scores so that we know how realistic 700+ score is.

2/ Since there will not be much difference between easy and tough questions on verbal, your score may be because you got first 5 questions wrong and in your next try you may get first 5 right and cruise along.

3/ Also, don't worry about average of 2 tries. Most schools take the best score. You can also write some good explanation for bad score in your application. If your GPA is good, I don't worry about a bad score on first try.
