Study Guide Problem Sets

by alexjohnhumphries Sat Nov 08, 2014 3:34 pm

I read somewhere online that the problem sets at the end of each chapter in the Manhattan GMAT books are from the Official Guide. Is that true? I thought they weren't and only the problems listed at the end of each guide were all the Official Guide problems that covered the topics addressed in each guide.

As an aside, in following the in-class curriculum, the weekly homework is heavily slanted towards the problem sets at the end of the chapters. If these are not from the OG, are these helpful at all? Isn't it better to just test your knowledge on OG problems rather than spending a ton of time on these chapter problem sets?

Thank you.

No, only the problems at the end of the book are OG problems. The ones at the end of each chapter are our own.

Possibly it was a SUPER old post, because several editions ago, we did list the problems each chapter.

The chapter problem sets are designed to make sure that you learned the material in the chapter. You don't have to do them all - just do enough to ensure that you are okay with the material before you move to OG. (In fact, it's nice to save some for later so that you can use them as little quizzes during the review phase.)

Ok, thanks Stacey. That might be what it was. It was from a May 2012 post on wallstreetoasis by phantombanker. I think I am going to focus on OG problems from hereon out since I only have two weeks left to take the test and I am in Week 8 of the syllabus.
