Tangents drawn to a circle from a point.

by goelmohit2002 Wed Sep 16, 2009 4:37 pm

Hi All,

Can someone please tell are properties of tangents drawn from a common point tested in GMAT....if yes then can someone please point me to a problem that tests this concept....

I checked Manhattan strategy guide of geometry....

But it does not talk about the tangents drawn from a common point concept....does it mean that properties of tangents drawn from a common point are not in the course of GMAT ?

Thanks

I don't have my resource materials handy, but if my memory serves, there is a GMATPrep DS question that involves a round swimming pool tangent to two fences...Maybe someone can post it.

As I recall, the question tests the idea of tangents drawn from a common point conceptually, but did not require memorization of any special formulas.

In any case, it is not commonly tested on the GMAT.
