Hi.

Strategy Guide Number 8, SC 6th Edition, Pg 258 Bottom Sentence.

1. The tires will be punctured.

The word "punctured" is used as a part of the verb form "wii be punctured" OR it is used as adjective modifying the noun "tires"?

2. I am really getting confused between the role of past participles as verbs and their role as adjectives.

For e.g..

a) I am tired. What is the role of "tired"? - Verb or Adjective?

b) The roast was ruined. What is the role of "ruined"? - Verb or Adjective?

It's part of the verb phrase.

These words could be seen as either verbs or adjectives. But they function in the same way in cases like these.
