This week's challenge problem

Please see link above to this week's challenge problem (DS). According to the question, "...a, b, and c are different nonzero integers...."

Statement 1, on the other hand, tells us that a = [(sqrt(5)-1)/2]*b

If a and b are indeed distinct nonzero integers, is statement 1 even possible?

read the problem statement again; it doesn't say "integers".
