Trignometry, differentiation, Permutation and combination

by himanshuelec Tue Mar 16, 2010 5:00 am

Dear Friends

I want to know that the GMAT Maths include the following topics or not:

1. Trignometry
2. Differentiation
3. Permutation and combination ( P & C)
4. Maxima and minima in functions

As far as Permutation and combination (P & C) is syllabus includes counting rules, does it mean that P & C is included.

Thanks

N Joy.......

I want to know that the GMAT Maths include the following topics or not:

1. Trignometry --> knowing this may bring you some advantages in geometry problems, but you'll not necessarily encounter a question that asks specifically about trigonometry.
2. Differentiation --> same as knowing trigonometry
3. Permutation and combination ( P & C) --> absolutely necessary
4. Maxima and minima in functions --> same as trigonometry and differentiation, basically you'll find yourself in a better position when you're equipped with as many tools/approaches as possible

As far as Permutation and combination (P & C) is syllabus includes counting rules, does it mean that P & C is included.

Ronald is right about content, just P & C of the stuff you mentioned. Is knowledge of the other topics useful, as Ronald writes? Nah, not much. I think that you'd be hard-pressed to find a single question where any of those topics mattered.
