This inequality is giving a range of values. I think it's important not to do Math blindly, but to understand things, so I'd probably turn this into a sentence. It's saying 'the fourth power of an unknown number is bigger than 2'. So I guess x could be 2, or x could be -2. But since I know that 2^4 is 16 (which is quite big), then I guess that x could be smaller than that. I could try out another number, say, 1.5. On the other hand, 1 would work: x can't be 1 or -1. This might lead me to seeing the pattern that x > fourth root of 2, or x < -fourth root of 2.
