What is fastest way : OG - PS -#6

by Kweku.Amoako Mon Aug 31, 2009 9:05 pm

Hi,

I realized I am spending too much time with divisions and mutiplication. For example the OG(11th Edition) problem #6 on page 152

Setting the problem was pretty easy but computing the numbers after seems to kill all my time. Please provide some advice on the fastest way to do this:

this is how I solved the problem:

82% = 138 therefore 100% = (100/82)*138
I know the answer will the result of the abve minus 124 but the problem is computing that.

I started this way (50/41) * 138 then I reaized no more common factors ...how should proceed from here?

would you just estimate the value?

Hi Kweko,

Unfortunately, the OG is a banned source; we are not allowed to discuss OG problems on this forum. As a brief response, in problems that require "approximate," you can round to make division calculations easier.

Hope that helps.
