Which will give me a better chance? 1st round vs 2nd round?

by I_need_a_700plus Thu Oct 10, 2013 12:51 am

Profile:

- 31 yrs old
- currently in wealth management as a financial advisor for a big bulge bracket firm (3 years)
- spent 4 years working for an investment bank (2 years each with two separate middle market firms)
- undergrad: Georgetown
- GPA: 3.22
- GMAT: 570 (took it 4 times already, of which one was cancelled)

I know it's going to be difficult, but which will give me a better chance for a school like UVA? Applying 1st round with the current profile or wait 2nd round and take the GMAT again in hopes to get a higher score.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

I suggest waiting to R2 and taking the GMAT again! Have you taken a thorough course? Tried a tutor? Make sure your preparation includes multiple full-length, timed, adaptive practice exams, and then take the time to review each practice exam and explanations in its entirety for best improvement. Focus on areas you are struggling most. We most recommend Manhattan GMAT and Kaplan prep courses. If possible bumping up that GMAT will greatly help with admission particularly to a school like Darden. Good luck to you!
