Well Vivek
All options except E has a misplaced modier "During the 1950s", which is changing the intended meaning of the sentence.

A and D says that "Young polio victims learning to live with their disabilities(ther are at present learing to live with their diabilities) were helped practise falling during the 1950s"
Its like saying something as
"Students preparing for GMAT (at present) were taught SC during 1950s"

while only E clearly states that During 1950s a practice as a part of therepy was prevalent which was to help young polio victims to practice falling

Hope this clears.
