Can someone explain to me why the fact that fewer crimes are reported in Canada is not the opposing point? I do not understand why the right answer is the right answer.

I believe you're asking about this:

Canada is a safer country than the United States because there are fewer crimes reported each year in Canada than in the United States. It is true that the population of Canada is much smaller than that of the United States, but if there are fewer crimes than there is less risk of injury.

Which one of the following is mentioned as an opposing point to the main conclusion?

Correct: The population of Canada is much smaller than that of the United States.

Incorrect: If there are fewer crimes in Canada then there is less risk of injury in Canada.

If you thought that the second answer is the opposing point, my guess is that you're not yet clear on what the conclusion of this argument is. I've marked it in red. The second answer supports it.

Tell me if it's still unclear and I can breakdown the argument further.
