Conditional Logic - Combining Statements

by magic.imango Sun Oct 12, 2014 12:55 pm

If I have these statements:

A ---> B
A ---> C

can I make this inference: B ---> C? Or can I only infer that "B some C"?

Thank you!

Hey Magic,

Logically, if two things cause some other thing, that does not create any connection between the two primary causes.

And yes, if X causes both Y and Z, then there are instances where Y and Z are happening at once (assuming that we know definitively that X actually happens).

Does the argument assume this? No! It's the opposite of what we want. The author isn't assuming that hiding the innocent assists anyone--it's obstruction according to the conclusion.
