Hi There,

Thanks for reaching out to us on the forum! I attached a diagram plus solutions to questions 2 and 3. Let me know if you still have questions about this, or if there are other solutions you'd like to see explicitly. This goes for any reader of the forum who has questions about this one :)

When I reviewed this question, I ended up using frames.

Code: Select All Code
__ __ __ __ N/0 __                  1. -MM -NN -LL -OO
1  2   3   4   5   6                 2. X(1) --> X(6)
                                    3. X(2) --> X(4)
                                    4. L --> -LN
                                       M --> -MN

__  __ __ __  N  __
1   2   3  4  5   6          i.e., Contrapositives of rule 3 and 4
-N -N     -N     -N             -N(6) --> -N(1)
                                  -N(4) --> -N(2)

__  __ __ __  O  __
1   2   3  4  5   6          i.e., Contrapositives of rule 3 and 4
-O -O     -O     -O              -O(6) --> -O(1) and
                                     -O(4) --> -O(2)

Great work chike_eze!

Frames are the way to go on this one, absolutely. But don't forget to draw inferences from the split with N or O going 5th. Check out the attached frames. While they don't have a ton of inferences, they do have some...

Wow, nice. Please explain how you came up with your inferences for the second frame (O in 5). I understand, after attempting to fit N in 2 and 4 and failing, why not N(2) and not N(4) must be true. But I would not have caught that in the real game or during review. In fact, I just did the game again and it still escaped me.

Good thing I was able to solve the game without those hidden inferences. But I am curious to know your thought process for drawing inferences from these frames.

Hi Chike!

To come up with those inferences I just followed the rules that the she cannot choose N immediately following L or M - contraint 4. And also that she cannot choose the same airline for consecutive flights.

So OO, MM, NN, LL do not work and since O or N has to go fifth, that will affect both the 1 + 6 pair as well as the 2 + 4 pair.

What do you think?

I noticed on the final diagram that you only notated N/ on slot 5, but it is supposed to be N/O. Am I missing something?
