Q14

by VendelaG465 Tue Nov 14, 2017 12:23 pm

I'm confused as to why (B) ( Y confessing ) couldn't be the answer? It states exactly 2 after T confess as in Y OR X could have confessed?

Our master diagram looks like this:
__ __ T __ __ W S
...............n...c...c n

If you don't follow why we have all that from the start, re-read the diagram thread for this game.
https://www.manhattanprep.com/lsat/foru ... t3549.html

So when Q14 says we have to incorporate V - Y - X,
we combine that with our Z rule to derive that we're looking at
Z - V - Y - X
so we can plop them in the remaining four spots

Z V T Y X W S
..........n c c n

We had no freedom in picking that days 4, 5, 6, 7
would be NO, CONFESS, CONFESS, NO

And we had no freedom in assigning Z, V, Y, X
to spots 1, 2, 4, 5

Hope this helps

So I understand how Y,X were forced into spots 4/5 what I'm lost on is how we concluded Y didn't confess? I guess this question is in regards to the master diagram, couldn't it have been Y confess, X didn't confess? & vice versa? it would still be respecting the "2 confess after T" rule.

Spot 4 is guaranteed to Not Confess, every time, no matter who it is. That's rule 2 in this game.

Our master diagram looks like this:
__ __ T __ __ W S
.............n..c...c n

Once we see, for Q14, that we have Z - V - Y - X, we don't have any freedom with where to put those guys.

It has to be
Z V T Y X W S.

Since Y has to be spot four, and rule 2 says that spot 4 didn't confess, Y is locked in as "spot 4, no confess".
