Q21

by rfrahman Fri Jul 31, 2015 11:43 pm

I am having difficulty understanding why E is correct. If we can have either industry or marketing, then can't we have a sequence of slots 1: industry feature 2: marketing feature 3: marking feature 4: marketing feature 5: graphic?

(E) is tricky. The answer choice sneakily tells you that slot five cannot be filled with a graphic, saying “each feature except THE FEATURE in slot 5.” Thus slot 5 must be occupied by a non-marketing and non-industrial FEATURE. Which, in turn, means finance or technology, which means the 2nd rule must be broken.

why is A allowed?
with Rule 2 and the fact that there need to be three kinds of features at least, what would A be like?

Sure, you could have, for example ....
I, M, M, g, g

There's an Industry feature in slot 1,
a marketing feature in slot 2,
a different marketing feature in slot 3,
and graphics in slots 4 and 5.

That wouldn't violate any rules.
