can someone explain how the answer is D? and why not A?
both passages mention the positive musical experiences in continuous sound don't they?

I'd like to know as well. Is it because some people expect non-continuous sound and therefore get pleasure out of it?

Too tricky for me as a first question.

I believe the right answer here is (E) - complexity --

The author of passage 1 mentions the positive benefit of complexity right in line 1 (and throughout). The author of passage 2 also discusses complexity, indirectly, throughout, and mentions it most directly in the last line.

In terms of (A) -- continuous sound is mentioned in passage 1, but it is not discussed in passage 2. Passage 2 discusses setting up expectations, then meeting or going against them -- this isn't the came thing as having sound start and stop --

Tough q -- many of the most tempting wrong answers for comparative q's will relate directly to one passage, but not the other.
