Q23

by XIANQIUZ296 Thu Apr 26, 2018 10:12 pm

I chose D because the example "replica of the ritual mark" mentioned in the last paragraph. This replica for sale is not considered authentic. D communicates the similar situation.

I do not understand why C is the right answer. I have not seen in the passage any related reference about it is fake to fool other people by its appearance.

Please help me to elaborate this question. Thanks in advance.

I reread the passage and now I got new analysis.

A, B, D, and E cannot be classified as a fake because they are mentioned on line 9-11.

A paraphrases 'works by an artist's followers in the style of the master'.

B paraphrases 'copying for pedagogical purposes'.

D paraphrases 'the production of commercial facsimiles'.

E paraphrases 'deliberate archaism'.

Is it right? Need help. Thanks.

Hello,

I think the elimination process is correct. I also confirmed answer choice C through line 1 "a fake can be defined as an artwork intended to deceive", which I believe matches well with C "wanted other people to be fooled by its appearance." Is my reasoning correct?

Thanks!

Yes, I would be looking first in the passage for where we defined "fake", and the first sentence is where we find the definition.

So I'm just looking for whatever answer best matches up with "intended to deceive".
