Can someone explain this question for me? I can not find the inference in the passage.

First, we should look for a line reference that sounds like a difference between the two studies.

The most evident place to look is the 1st Paragraph, from lines 5-18. One big difference offered is this:
emphasizing the requirements of society vs. the experiences and requirements of the invidividual

But there is another line reference later, in line 34-41, where is says "The difference between the two types of studies is ..."

Here, we learn a difference is "the amount of control the narrator maintains over the material ... no outsiders shaping the story

Hence, we can support choice (C).
