I had this question right but then I had tons of time about 5 or 6 mins at the end and went back to double check my answers and I changed it from right (D) to wrong (E). Now since i'm committed to post an explanation on every question I get wrong here goes:
Yolando's response is that she disagree's with the premise that fraternities are responsible for alcohol problems. Instead its a cultural problem as evidence by the fact that universities without fraternities have alcohol problems as well.
Let's hit the answer choices:
A) Just because we all SHOULD be more aware of alcohol abuse does that mean she says fewer people WILL abuse it? Obviously this is not what she was saying, get rid of it.
B) She does generalize about the ubiquity of alcohol as a cultural dilemma but nothing about her application of that generalization was extreme or unreasonable and as such the characterization of "overly" broad is inaccurate and cannot be correct.
C) Since alcohol is cultural that means it isn't a fraternity problem? What? Of course she doesn't say that -- it could easily be both a fraternity related and a culturally related issue the two are not mutually exclusive.
D) Bingo. She points out yea OK alcohol related issues are problematic at fraternity but wait one second before you change schools because in fact the issue is cultural systemic. This is our answer.
E) How do we know that she would still conclude it is a cultural rather than fraternity related problem is she doesn't give us that counterfactual? This is pure conjecture we have no clue what she would still maintain if circumstances were different that would be speculative and thus cannot be our answer.
Hope this helps!
