Why is A wrong and C a better option?

As we do with all Orientation questions, we take each rule and see if any answers violate it.

Rule 1: this gets rid of (D). Since R is there, M should be too.

Rule 2: this gets rid of (B) Since M is there, T should be too.

Rule 3: this would have also gotten rid of (B), but we already eliminated it

Rule 4: this gets rid of (A). Since R is not there, L should be there.

Rule 5: this gets rid of (E). Since T is there, V should not be.

The only survivor was (C), the correct answer.

What confuses me about C is that, If T is there, then should M and R also be there?

They could be, but they don't have to be. The second rule says that if M, then T; be careful about reversing it.
