This is a could be true EXCEPT question. So (E) could be true--you're right! 4 could be true; 1 can't.

Try again and see what you come up with?

What is the best approach to this question here? I'm trying not to go through each answer choice, but is that the best way?

Great question. Could be true EXCEPT questions are Must Be False questions in disguise. On Must Be False questions (and therefore also on Could be True questions), your most efficient strategy is to look for the answer choice that is wrong. DO NOT TEST EACH ANSWER CHOICE TO SEE IF IT COULD BE TRUE! If you can't tell, move on to the next one. Only if you've surveyed A-E and have found none that clearly must be false should you begin testing.

I see why D is correct, but I don't see why C could be true. Can someone please clarify it?

We will be using the frame VPMLG with J before G. So we can have P as either 2nd or 3rd. How do we get P as 4th as is the case in C?

Thank you in advance.

You don't have to use that frame, in fact, you can't and have P be 4th, so you're right about that.

But J--M works in the second frame as well, and that's the one we're dealing with.

J--M in the second frame means (C) could be true because you could have:

Hi MP Team

This question introduces a further conditional, from the textbooks my understanding is that you would amend the trees to add this rule in for each. Would you want to do that here? This seems rather time consuming. If you did go ahead and re-draw your trees, what would that look like?

Thanks again!
