Question 1784

by galleg49 Thu Dec 05, 2013 5:29 am

I bought some new boots with super-grip soles, but nonetheless it would clearly be safer to stay home. I almost always slip and fall when I walk on the sidewalk during snowy weather.

Which of the following is mentioned in support of the main conclusion?

__________

A. When walking during snowy weather, I almost always fall.

B. It is unsafe to walk on the sidewalk during snowy weather.

Can someone help explain what the conclusion is for this Q?

Hey Galleg,

Remember that the conclusion should be a CLAIM, not a FACT.

The purchasing of shoes = FACT
I always slip and fall = FACT

So the only claim is "I would be safer staying home."

The buying of new shoes DO NOT support this conclusion, because the shoes would make going out safer than usual.

The fact that the person always slips and falls supports the claim that it's safer to stay home.

Hope that helps!
